There have been a few changes in the eligibility criteria to register a .EU domain name and .CN verification process.

What is changing?

Currently, residency only within the European Union, Norway, Iceland, and Lichtenstein is required for registration of .EU domain names, both for individuals and organisations/ undertakings. Effective 19 October 2019, the registration of .EU domain names can be requested by any of the following:

  1. an EU citizen, independent of their place of residence;
  2. a natural person who is not an EU citizen and who is a resident of a Member State
  3. an undertaking that is established in the EU or
  4. an organisation that is established in the EU, without prejudice to the application of national law

Thus, in addition to the current eligibility criteria, residents (natural persons/ individuals) of any country who have citizenship in one of European Union Member state can also register a .EU domain name. For example, an EU citizen now residing in INDIA is eligible to register a .EU domain name

.CN Verification Changes

Starting October 28th 2019, there will be a change in the .CN registration verification process.

What is changing?

Currently for individual Registrants, documents such as ID Card / Residence Booklet / Driving License / Passport need to be provided to complete the registration process. Effective 29th October, only Passport will be valid as a form of verification for overseas Registrants. Other documents such as driver's license, ID card, etc. will no longer be accepted.
